The output of plastic products in the first five months increased by 5.4% year-on-year!

According to the recently released statistics, the output of plastic products from January to May was 31.65 million tons, up by 5.4% year-on-year.

In May this year, the total output of enterprises in China's plastic products industry reached 6.425 million tons. From the perspective of regional statistics, the eastern region holds a significant dominant position. In May, the output of plastic products in the eastern region was 4.088 million tons, accounting for 63.6%. The output of plastic products in the central region was 1.446 million tons, accounting for 22.5%. The output of plastic products in the western region was 757,000 tons, accounting for 11.8%. The output of plastic products in Northeast China was 132,000 tons, accounting for 2.1%.

Data shows that in terms of exports, China's plastic and its products export value reached 12.49 billion US dollars in May, up 0.8% year-on-year. From January to May, the total export volume was 58.61 billion US dollars, increasing by 1.0% year-on-year. In terms of imports, China's imports of plastics and their products reached 4.75 billion US dollars in May, a year-on-year decrease of 7.2%. From January to May, the total import volume was 24.06 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%, and the trade surplus was 34.55 billion US dollars.

It is predicted that the output of plastic products in China will reach 42.51 million tons in the second half of 2025, a decrease of 0.28% compared with last year. However, the total output in 2025 will reach 81.142 million tons, an increase of 0.33% compared with last year.
